City of Wealth

You would think that it would be darker at five in the morning. But as I walked it seemed only mankind slept, and that the earth moved quickly to prepare it's self for their awakening.
The sun was rising and shed it's rays on the valley of tombs in the ancient city of Palmyra. No longer were there worshipers to revere Bel in his temple, but other gods had taken his place without his knowledge. A minaret called to the world to revere and worship. To the south was Mecca, and for five brief parts of the day all would turn in this direction. But for the rest of the day they faced west towards another god. Now, in stead of disks to place virgin sacrifices, the disks of the worshipers faced west; away from the morning sun towards a land that would fill their time with intruding ideas throughout the day. Muhammad, tell them (the people of the book) that there is an entire world of worshipers that know not what it reverences. Tell them.

After Petra fell, great wealth came to this town, and it grew. With wealth comes great temptation, and the cares of the world. Like their queen, they build elaborate tunnels to escape capture, only to fail. There is no escape from this world's destructive results except in the arms of a God that loves and cares for you. There is a city of wealth for the heart that would yield to the love of a savior.
